Oak Creek Golf Club, an original Ault, Clark & Associates design, opened as a private country club in the early 2000’s. In 2013, Toll Golf acquired the club and redesigned the course as a more golfer friendly public course. After two years of renovations, including a new clubhouse, the new Oak Creek was opened Memorial Day weekend in 2015. The club shares the grounds with the historic Bowieville Manor, built in 1820. An old tobacco barn still stands on the 4th hole and allows golfers to drive thru the historic structure on the way to the fairway. Oak Creek is know for its plush bermudagrass fairways and undulating bentgrass greens. There are six different tee boxes from 4500 to 7000 yards that provide a challenge to everyone from the beginner to the most accomplished players.

Hole #1 is a short par four that provides a good scoring opportunity. A short layup off the tee that avoids the fairway bunker on the left or a bold play to hit for the green sets up a player for low score to start their round.

Hole #3 is the longest par 4 on the course. A long drive over the corner of the grass bunker on the right will provide the best look at the green. Players must carry the creek and the steep slope in front of the green with the long second shot. Don’t go too long as a bunker behind the green with capture an overly aggressive approach.

Hole #5 is the first par 5 on the course. Golfers must position their drive between the pond on the right and the large maple tree that guards the left side of the fairway. A second pond to the left of the fairway and short of the green must be avoided of the second shot. Be sure to check the pin placement on this very large green or you will be left with a long putt for birdie.

Hole #7 is an opportunity to get back on track after a tough stretch. This short par 5 is reachable in two for longer hitters. Stay left of the bunkers off the tee but the blind landing area for longer hitters includes a pond on the left. A good drive leaves the choice of laying up or going for the green in two. Players must carry their shot to the middle of the green as a large false front will deny a weak approach.

Hole #9 provides another scoring opportunity but don’t let this short par 4 fool you. Longer hitters can try to drive the green but this narrow hole means a penalty for any wayward drive. The prudent play is a layup short of the fairway bunker leaving a wedge to this small green.

Hole #14 is the longest par 5 at Oak Creek. Aim for the fairway bunker off the tee as it is likely out of reach for most players. The fairway turns to the left and requires a long shot to provide a good look at the green. Hole #17 is the final par 5 at Oak Creek. This long uphill hole will require three solid shots. Hit your tee shot short and left of the large fairway bunker.
