Our Roots
Fair Oaks Ranch Golf & Country Club traces its origins back to the early 1900s when Ralph Fair Sr., a pioneer in the oil industry, acquired a vast expanse of land in the Texas Hill Country. His vision of creating a thriving community laid the foundation for what would become Fair Oaks Ranch.
In the 1970s, the Fair family, led by Ralph Fair Jr., embarked on a development project to transform the ranch into a premier residential community. With the expertise of developer Don Smith, they began building luxurious homes and creating a vibrant neighborhood.
A Golfing Oasis Takes Shape
Recognizing the opportunity to enhance the community's appeal, Don Smith proposed building a golf course. Despite initial resistance from other developers, Ralph Fair Jr. embraced the vision and enlisted the renowned South African golfer Gary Player to design the course.
Under Player's guidance, the Fair family's historic ranch house was transformed into the clubhouse, and the construction of the Fair Oaks Ranch Golf & Country Club began in the late 1970s. The Club quickly gained a reputation for its challenging courses, stunning scenery, and welcoming atmosphere.
