About Rob
Rob Van Der Schans joined the Canyon Creek staff in November of 2018 and has over 35 years of experience in the tennis industry. As a junior, Rob competed in, and won, over 30 tournaments in Spain, England, Dubai, the Netherlands and the United States. He also played on full scholarship for the nationally ranked University of Texas at Tyler, and was ranked #50 in the country . Starting his professional career in Irving, Rob was the Head Tennis Professional at Four Seasons Resort before moving to Louisville, Kentucky. During his time there, he held the position of Director of Racquet Sports at the prestigious Louisville Boat Club. In 2001, Rob was ranked #1 in the Kentucky Men's "Open" Doubles Division, and his contributions to Kentucky tennis earned him the USPTA Southern 2002 Kentucky Pro of the Year award. Rob is a USPTA Elite and USPTR Pro certified teaching professional, and has served as the President of the Dallas Professional Tennis Association (DPTA).
Michael Martinez

About Michael
Michael Martinez has been at Canyon Creek since August, 2009 and in that time has developed a strong following. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Criminal Justice in 1993 and was a NCAA Division I All American. While playing for OU, he won the Big 8 Conference titles in Singles, Doubles, and Team Tennis. He went on to play on the ATP Tour, earning ATP points in both singles and doubles. He was ranked as high as 35 in the nation in NCAA Division 1 and top 15 in doubles. Michael was also an assistant coach for the University of Oklahoma Men’s Tennis Team after graduation. He is USPTA, P-1 certified.
Ben Simon

About Ben
Ben has been involved in high performance tennis coaching for almost 30 years. He formed BSTA back in 2002 and was the co-owner of Strive Tennis academy in Atlanta GA. Both academies were recognized by the USTA for producing top nationally ranked and ITF players. During that time, he has developed over 200 players who went on to play high level Collegiate tennis on scholarships, from NAIA to NCAA 1 college level. Many have gone to play on tour and have reached as high as top 200 ATP/WTA. Some of Ben’s former students include his son Coy Simon who finished top 10 in the nation in B18’. Coy is now playing for the University of Tennessee Knoxville team is currently #3 in NCAA 1. Emma Navarro officially finished 2019 at 3 in the world junior ITF and 250 WTA in her senior year of high school; she is now a freshman for Virginia. Another former student John Harrison Richmond finished top 5 in the nation in every age category B 12-18.
Lynn Khaing

About Lynn
Lynn is joining the Canyon Creek staff on September 28th as Head of Adult Programming. He brings over 15 years of tennis experience to the club. Lynn has been an USPTA Certified Elite Pro for 10 years and is also a Master Racquet Technician. Prior to joining the staff at Canyon Creek, Lynn served as Head Tennis Professional at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club in McKinney and Springpark Tennis Center in Garland and as an Assistant Head Coach for The Hockaday School. He has also given back to the local tennis community by serving as President for the Dallas Professional Tennis Association and by being Chairman for the Dallas Cup.

About John
John Singer has proudly accepted the position of Tennis Professional at Canyon Creek Country Club. He comes to us with a wealth of experience in the tennis industry. John has been a USPTA certified tennis professional for 35 years and recently obtained his Level 2 Pickleball certification with IPTPA. John was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri where he earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education with a minor in adaptive physical education (working with physically handicapped children). During his time at Westminster he lettered all four years in tennis having played in the NAIA Division, competing in both singles and doubles. He started his professional career in 1983 at Park Forest Tennis & Health Club, Park Forest, Illinois, serving as their Director of Tennis for13 years. Chris Jimenez

About Chris
Chris is a PTR-certified instructor who joined the Canyon Creek staff in March 2023. He was born and raised in Queens, NYC. As a junior, he was ranked top 120 nationally during his junior and senior years of high school. Following his junior tennis, Chris was a Division 1 All-Conference player for Saint Francis University in Pittsburgh, PA. There he earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Management and later achieved a Master’s degree in Business Administration. During his collegiate career, he served as a tennis instructor at North Hills Country Club in Long Island, NY. After college, he moved to McKinney, Texas to teach as a full-time instructor at The Courts of McKinney. There he managed kids and adult classes of all levels. Chris has 11 years of coaching experience and enjoys developing tennis players of all ages.
Joanna Leitch

About Joanna
Hailing from the DFW area, Joanna began playing tennis at Canyon Creek Country Club at seven years old. Competing at the Super Champ level in Texas, Joanna spent her summers as a tennis camp counselor at Canyon Creek and Prestonwood Country Club. Her love for tennis led her to Austin College in Sherman, Texas, where she played tennis during her freshman year. However, the pandemic halted all collegiate sports, prompting her to transfer to Texas State in San Marcos, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice in 2023. Upon returning to the Dallas area, Joanna coached various skill levels at Fretz, including red ball, orange ball, green ball, and adult beginner classes. Driven by her passion for the sport, she has returned to teach at Canyon Creek Country Club.

Kavin Masilamani joined Canyon Creek Staff in May 2024. A seasoned tennis pro with over a decade of competitive and coaching experience, he boasts a strong playing career highlighted by national rankings in India.
He's trained under renowned coaches, including Somdev Devvarman, and honed his skills at prestigious academies in Spain. Masilamani is a former university tennis standout with multiple titles and achievements. He holds advanced degrees in Information Technology.
